Clinical Educator Programme (CEP)

Who are we and what do we do?

If you teach University of Edinburgh medical undergraduates we are here to help you. We are a team of tutors and administrators in post to help you develop and enjoy your teaching no matter what your role is.

Why do we do this?

All doctors are involved in helping others learn. It might be their patients, students, junior doctors in training or other professionals that they work with so it is really important that they can develop these skills.

Other reasons

The Clinical Educator Programme (CEP) is recommended for clinicians wishing to fulfil the GMC requirements for Recognition and Approval of Trainers (http://www.gmc-uk.org/education/10264.asp) across South East Scotland. The GMC requires evidence aligned to 7 framework areas. These framework areas are addressed by the CEP. Please direct queries specific to Recognition of Trainers to [email protected]

Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy can be achieved through our programme by completing Level 3. The HEA focusses exclusively on teaching quality. The UKPSF (below) underpins much of the programme, in particular our workshop learning outcomes, the teaching observation and feedback session, and the reflective portfolio assignment.
